Microsoft Phone System and Direct Routing is the service inside of Teams that allows organizations to connect external phone lines and use Teams as an office phone system.
Microsoft Teams as a phone system
Alliance Communications offer a fully managed global cloud communication solution using Microsoft Teams. We can integrate Teams with Wildix and 8×8 or use Direct Routing to connect Teams users to our global Alliance voice network, allowing you to make and receive external calls.
Each solution is delivered as a fully managed service with full support and local account management with a dedicated Account Manager from Alliance Communications.
There are two scenarios to consider when using Microsoft Teams as your phone system.
Scenario One
Teams doesn’t provide my business with all of the phone system functionality I need.
The current limitations of Teams as a Phone system are as follows:

- Limited new number availability
- NGN Termination is not supported through Microsoft Calling Plans
